New Zealand, Part 4: Milford Sound
Day 6: Te Anau to Milford Sound (and back)
Milford Sound is one of the 14 fjords in Fjordland National Park, and the only one accessible by car. Because all the land surrounding the fjords is rocky, when it rains you get dozens of waterfalls, and it rains 200 days a year. We booked a cruise that takes you the length of the fjord and out to the ocean, and were fortunate enough to have a very rainy morning. Much like the helicopter tour, this cruise had us completely amazed.
Besides the cruise itself, the drive into and especially out of Milford Sound was also incredible.
